Jackson’s notes - March 15 2022

Theme for this round of updates: making group pages shine

  • kinda sorta merge current Notion iteration with the product (Team Profiles) that are live today on beforeyouapply.com.
  • overall, put more evergreen content on group page
  • refine subpages to optimize for use cases / things that we sell
    • group main page
    • ‘meet the team’ page
    • team member page
    • updates (aka: blog)

These pages are good for now (just to confirm!)

  • Homepage
  • Contributors page and pages for each individual Contributor
  • About Us page
  • Collections pages (FYI we don’t yet know what we’re going to use for email marketing service)

Things to change

Group main page

Simplify info at top of page
Hide description
Remove contributors (put them at bottom of page)
Remove tag of type-of-team
“Contact a recruiter” —> “Talk to a human” ; allow multiple people to be under this heading
Move updates to top of page (see note below)
Add section for video clips. Probably similar to current BYA team profiles
Bring content on ‘how we operate’ page back to main page and kill the ‘how we operate’ subpage
Make “meet the team” button more prominent...somehow. I don’t know how to do this but, broadly, we need to call more attention to it :)
Shrink Page Manager section and rename to Page Contributors

Updates feed

As noted above, move updates up top of main page. But only show most-recent 3 or 4. Sort of like how KeyValues treats jobs and the New York Times treats small news articles. (See further notes in my video clip)
Need new subpage to house all updates. Kind of like a blog page. Can be super basic list just like how posts are displayed currently...just on its own page.
FYI we’re going to encourage customers to treat updates like, well, updates. Idea is quick, easy, low-production news items that are focused on progress that the group is making that will be interesting to job seekers

Meet the team page

no actual changes here yet. Just a heads up that we’ll probably have more text in the subhead. Potentially 50–100 words.

Team member pages

Make place to directly embed videos of the team member talking. Probably between About and Updates.
For clarity, keep update feed at bottom, which’ll be useful for when the person is involved with an update
